Southend claim Eastwood success

Eastwood, who celebrated his 21st birthday at the weekend, has become hot property after a blsitering five-game loan spell with the Shrimpers.

He scored twice again last night in the LDV Vans Trophy win over Shrewsbury Town, his fifth and sixth goals for the club, and boss Tilson claims the hotshot is set to stay on with the club.

A fee has already been agreed with his parent club, Conference South club Grays Athletic, and Tilson is trying to secure his services before he is tempted by another club.

Tilson said: "We are just trying to sort the transfer out with Fredy now – a fee has been agreed with Grays and now it's just personal terms with him but we aren’t far away.

"The transfer fee isn't an issue now, we just need to get Fred happy with the terms we are offering and the deal will be signed.

"Eastwood showed once again (with his goals last night) just why we are trying to bring him to this football club.

"His first goal was different class – he's taken four on then poked it in the bottom corner. The second one he's cut inside so quickly that he didn't give their defenders the chance to get themselves set and it was a good finish."
