Taylor hoping for Iron survival

Taylor
is a regular visitor to the town to visit his parents and has not forgotten where he discovered his love for the game.

Writing in The Daily Telegraph he said: "Scunthorpe are managerless, in freefall, and I am concerned they may be relegated into the Nationwide Conference."

He has been linked with the vacant managers position at Glanford Park and remembers fondly his days as a schoolboy, going to see the likes of Jack Brownsword at the Old Showground in the 1960's.

He added: "In all honesty the issue for me is not who wins the Champions Leage, but will Scunthorpe retain their Football League status?

"It was at the Old Showground, where I stood on the terraces and, on occasions, in the press box alongside my father (Tom Taylor), who as a local journalist, covered the Iron for the
Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph.

"My love for the game began there. I am not ashamed of admitting that and I try not to forget my roots - isn't that what being a football supporter is all about? Up the Iron!"
