More than 100 fans signed up at Saturday's launch, held in the Old Farmhouse pub after the game against Tranmere.

And launch chairman Anthony Dent was amazed by such a response, with membership free.

He said: "It was great to get some good luck wishes from from members of the official supporters club committee and everyone who came along was very enthusiastic.

"Our special thanks must go to Alan the landlord of the Honest lawyer pub, where we have our meetings, and Brian the manager of the Old Farmhouse who lets us have space on matchdays and a notice board too.

"Despite the greater than expected response we still intend to have the first batch of membership cards ready for Saturday.

"We will be attending the Old Farmhouse before the game to hand them out, any which are uncollected we will post out but urge as many as possible to collect to cut down on postage costs."
