Transfer deadline decision put back

FIFA introduced the transfer deadline for this season, argueing that the British leagues needed to be brought into line with the rest of Europe.

FL officials however saw this as uneccesary meddling, and contested the decision - with their arguement being that we should be made a special case in light of the ITV Digital collapse.

"FIFA have been in touch and told us they won't make a decision until next week," explained Football League spokesman John Nagle.

"In the meantime clubs can carry on as normal. We believe we've had a good hearing from the ruling body and we remain confident they will rule in our favour.

"The effects of this thing could be devastating if it is forced through, but we are confident that we will eventually arrive at a compromise agreement."

The Premier League will abide by tomorrow's deadline.
