Speaking about Williams, Adkins told the official website: "We are in a situation at the moment where we are trying to sort his contract out, and we are not going to play him until he sorts his contract out."
McCann missed the game through plantar fasciitis, and has had an MRI scan on the injury.
The United boss was happy with the win, and thrilled for Jonathan Forte, who netted a brace.
He added: "It was a good competitive game, I was very pleased to see Jono (Forte) to go and score two goals. It was a good work-out for us."
