Wright played for the Iron just two months ago when Nathan Stanton was suspended.
He will now return to play at right back again while Stanton will be nudged into his preferred position at the heart of United's defence.
United fans have not seen the last of Balmer though, he will return to Oldham during his suspension and then return to Glanford Park to begin a second loan spell.
