The Third Division game against Cheltenham Town was postponed due to heavy rain, but Alexander still visited the Strikers Bar and spoke to the City team with his father and son.

Alexander required life-saving brain surgery at the Sheffield Royal Hallamshire Hospital after collapsing at his Lincolnshire home in early November.

He said: "It is the first time my father would have seen the Imps so we were all disappointed the game was postponed but it was great to see the players in the dressing room and there was all the normal banter you would expect.

"I have to take each day as it comes, but I hope to be back after Christmas.

"I have hopsital appointments three days every week and I'm spending the rest of my time relaxing with my family.

"Lots of people have shown me a great deal of affection since I became ill and I really appreciate that."

City chairman Rob Bradley has revealed that the club were nearing the end of contract extentions talks with Alexander, and expects them to be concluded in the New Year.
