Blackpool miss out on Parkes

Seasiders caretaker boss Simon Grayson, who stepped in following the sacking of Colin Hendry, asked Parkes to add some experience to his backroom staff.

But Parkes, who worked with Grayson when he was a player at Blackburn, didn't want to join a club whose short-term future was so unclear.

He said: "He asked me to go and work with him, but Simon might only be there for one week or two.

"It all seems very unsettled at Bloomfield Road."
