Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has said that Charlie Adam's proposed switch from Rangers to Bloomfield Road has not yet gone through as the player wants to see what future he has at Ibrox.

The Gers have accepted the Championship club's £500,000 offer for Adam, but the player wants to see if the proposed sale of Barry Ferguson by the Scottish club would push him towards a first-team place there.

"He fancies the chance of still playing for them because he's a Rangers fan. So he's going to see Walter Smith and hopefully he'll be coming to see us on Thursday," said Holloway.

"His agent has told us that, although Rangers have accepted our offer, he's a bit confused about things because he thought he might have had a chance at Rangers."

The new West Bromwich Albion manager Roberto Di Matteo has made Swindon Town striker Simon Cox his first signing since being appointed Albion's head coach last month.

The 22-year-old, who moves to The Hawthorns for £1.9million, has penned a two-year contract with the Baggies, with the option of a further two years in the club's favour.

Cox scored 29 League One goals for the Robins last term - including a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw with Scunthorpe at Glanford Park in November - and 32 in all competitions.

The Football Association has decided not to fine Brian Laws following the Sheffield Wednesday manager's spat with officials in the Championship clash at Preston North End in March.

The former Scunthorpe United boss was warned as to his future conduct but has managed to escape a touchline ban.

The Owls have handed a trial to the former Fulham striker Collins John who is also wanted by Bristol City.

Championship new-boys Leicester City have signed the midfielder Richie Wellens from Doncaster Rovers.

Jim Magilton has made Argentinian midfielder Alejandro Faurlin his first signing since being appointed Queens Park Rangers manager.
