Marvin Emnes, the Middlesbrough forward who turned down a move to Scunthorpe last month, will not be allowed to extend his loan spell at Swansea City.
The Dutch forward moved to the Swans on a month-long loan last month, but the change of manager at the Riverside Stadium means he will now be asked to prove his worth to Tony Mowbray.
Mowbray, who replaced Gordon Strachan as boss last week, wants to see if he can help Boro in their fight against relegation to League One.
"I've got to give everybody a chance. It doesn't do any harm to look at everybody in the squad," he said.
