The 30-year-old has scored three times in three outings for Gary Johnson's side, having fallen out with former club Millwall in dramatic style.

"Joining Bristol City is like a new start for me and I want to be in the papers for all the right reasons now," he said.

"If people are going to write about my career, then I want it to be about my performances on the pitch.

"I'm enjoying it so much here and that is because I'm just being left alone to get on with my game."

Byfield started his career as a trainee with Aston Villa and has also had spells with Walsall, Rotherham United, Sunderland and Gillingham.
