The midfielder, 19 has made two Carling Cup appearances for the Latics and spent time on loan at Rochdale last season.
"I'm hoping to be in contention for the first team and to gain some vital experience," he told Wigan's official website.
"Martin Allen is a good manager and I'm hoping I can get some playing time under my belt."
