Chester hit out at Wright

Over the past couple of weeks the events at the Deva Stadium have bemused football fans, with Wright quitting the club on the eve of the new season and involved in a war of words with club chairman Stephen Vaughan.

Vaughan was booed by Chester fans, as was Vaughan's son who plays for the club, as rumours among fans suggested Vaughan Junior was trying to ensure his son a place in the side.

But a statement released by the club yesterday revealed that that Wright had been having an affair with a player's fiancee, trying to engineer moves to other clubs and trying to sell star stiker Daryl Clare.

*He had an affair with the fiancee fo Wayne Hatswell, which lead to him asking to leave the club.

*He asked to be paid by the chairman's company rather than the club, to avoid making payments to his wife following his divorce.

*He refused to sign a new contract offering security to him and the club, and alienated £60,000 worth of investment in the club's Centre of Excellence.

*He tried to engineer the sale of top scorer Daryl Clare to either Boston or Hornchurch against the player's wishes.
