Colchester striker refuses operation

Keith has struggled with the problem all season, and will return to training next week.

But he declined the option of going under the surgeon's knife as he feared he would be ruled out until next season as a result.

He said: "The last thing I wanted was an operation because that would have meant a rehabilitation period of six to nine months.

"We got the option of a groundbreaking injection that has only been used on about 40 players so far, and we felt it had to be tried as it has a 100 per cent success rate."
