A Thursday deadline has already been set for a takeover to be agreed, with Ray Ranson's Sisu consortium having been strongly tipped to be the favourites to take control.

If the club do not have new owners agreed on Thursday, they will go into administraion and be docked 10 points.

However, businessman Alki David has confirmed that he is hoping to take over the financially-stricken Sky Blues.

He told The Guardian: "Negotiations are at a very good stage and I expect a positive decision to be made soon.

"Coventry is a team which can achieve great things if it is slapped into shape. My aim is to take them into the Premier League and I want to work with the current management team to achieve that.

"I will try to get there with Coventry and also with a team that already plays in that division."
