The 22-year-old was injured during a loan spell with Burton Albion and is not expected back in action much before Christmas.
Assistant manager Neil Baker told The Sentinel: "Stuart is a goalkeeper of potential and we are just not going to give up on him halfway through his recovery from what was a serious injury.
"Both our other keepers have indicated they are moving on. Stuart should be back by Christmas and he is working hard with his rehab with the fitness coaches now."
