The League Two side have picked up four points from their opening two games, but have had to do so without their star summer signing.

A stomach ulcer has lept him out of the season start, but he is still hoping to make his debut against Yeovil this weekend.

"I've been given medication and in 10 to 12 days time, hopefully the ulcer will have cleared up," said Gascoigne.

"Maybe the Yeovil game will be a bit too early for me, but I'll try for it.

"I had a serious problem but I didn't realise until I keeled over in agony.

"I wanted to be involved against Grimsby but the gaffer wouldn't let me.

"That's the kind of person I am, but I don't want to rush this because the doctor said if I'd left it a few more days, he doesn't know what might have happened."
