Huddersfield boss slams 'spineless' players

The Terriers have won just once in six league games this season and Ternent - who took over in the summer, and has overseen a raft of changes to the playing squad - has had enough already.

Neither Jim Goodwin or Andy Butler, who moved to the Yorkshire side on free transfers from Scunthorpe, played on Saturday.

The midfielder Goodwin was an unused substitute, while the centre-back Andy Butler was missing through injury.

"I'm totally embarrassed by that performance. We beat ourselves. They are spineless, they haven't got the courage of their own convictions," said Ternent.

"We'll be training every day God sends us next week. I'm so angry, I can't put it into words. It's not my fault, it's the players' fault.

"I've stuck up for them before, but I can't if they haven't got the strength to perform in front of a crowd like that against a side that came here expecting to be beaten."
