The Swans' match against Darlington was called off after a heavy downpour an hour before kick-off, meaning United knew they would go top if they avoided defeat against the Glovers.

Andy Butler's 78th minute winner means they opened up a two-point gap at the top, ahead of Leyton Orient who came from behind three times to beat Lincoln City 4-3 at Sincl Bank.

Swansea remain in third place, despite not being in action.

Managerless Shrewsbury Town pulled themselves off the bottom spot with a 1-1 draw against Southend United.

Kidderminster return to the bottom slot after their defeat at play-off hopefuls Bristol Rovers, with a Junior Agogo double doing the damage.

Boston manager Steve Evans was left fuming after his side's 2-1 defeat at Notts County.

He was furious that the Pilgrims were not awarded a free-kick after Rob Ullathorne appeared to bring down Andy Kirk in the area, and exchanged words with referee Paul Mullin at the interval.

Evans raged: "County's boss Gary Mills was laughing after that decision, and that's understandable because it saved his job.

"I don't care if it gets me into trouble because I've heard other managers blast this referee, and it's no wonder because that display is as bad as it gets.

"I only hope we never see him again."

Elsewhere, Cheltenham Town beat Cambridge United 2-1 and Macclesfield triumphed over Oxford by a single goal.

The result leaves Us maanger Graham Rix facing the sack, after being told going into the weekend that he had two games to save his job. One down, one to go.

Bury and Rushden cancelled each other out, as did Wycombe Wanderers and Mansfield Town.
