Iron now top of the table

Leicester, who held the top spot before the game, were not in action allowing the Iron the chance to usurp them.

Strikers Luciano Becchio and Jermaine Beckford scored just before half-time, and Beckford added a third on 90 minutes, as Leeds United beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-1 at Elland Road.

Peter Leven scored a brace as MK Dons came from behind to beat Carlisle United 3-1.

The visitors, looking to end a four-game losing streak, made a dream start when Danny Graham headed them in front inside five minutes.

But Leven struck five minutes before half-time and the Spanish centre-half Miguel Llera nodded home the second, with Leven's penalty sealing the points in the last minute.

It extended the Cumbrians' losing streak to five matches and pushes the Dons into the play-off places

Tranmere Rovers were all at sea at Prenton Park as they suffered a third successive defeat in front of their own fans, with Millwall's 3-1 success their sixth win in their last seven outings..

They had the perfect start with two goals from loan signing Tresor Kandol in the first 13 minutes.

It was all over for the Merseysiders in the 60th minute. They looked in vain for offside as Kandol turned provider to leave Nadjim Abdou an easy finish from eight yards. Bas Savage got a late consolation.

Huddersfield Town sent Swindon Town spiralling further down the league table as Maurice Malpas' side slipped to a fifth successive home defeat.

Stan Ternent's men were in impressive form as goals from on-loan the Derby striker Liam Dickinson, Gary Roberts and Michael Flynn were sufficient to see off a Swindon team, who despite Craig Easton claiming a late consolation were woeful.

Malpas remains a man under pressure and could be the next league manager to get the chop after just nine months in charge, fans' support speaks volumes and in the Swindon faithful the Scot has none.

Leon McSweeney earned Stockport County a point with a wonder strike less than 60 seconds after coming on to the pitch in their 1-1 draw at Southend United.

The home side had taken the lead straight from Adam Federici's goal kick. He thumped the ball down the centre, Alex Revell flicked the ball on and Lee Barnard turned Jaroslaw Fojut and then fired home.

Shaun Batt opened his goalscoring account in the Football League as Peterborough United eased past the challenge of Walsall in a 2-1 success at the Banks's Stadium.

Batt, a summer signing from non-league Fisher Athletic, took just 64 seconds to break the deadlock. Chris Whelpdale doubled Peterborough's advantage in the 43rd minute, with Troy Denney heading in a late consolation for the Saddlers.

Bristol Rovers
were rescued by goals from central defenders Danny Coles and Craig Hinton after going behind in their 2-1 win over Leyton Orient at the Memorial Stadium.

Coles began the revival when he skimmed in a second-half header from a corner. It was a goal he owed Rovers as early in the half he had helped a 35-yard speculative cross from Jason Demetriou past his own keeper.

Cheltenham Town and Colchester United served up a thrill-a-minute contest at Whaddon Road that was not decided until the fourth minute of injury time.

The initiative swung this way and that but with around 35 minutes to go it seemed that Colchester would be going back to Essex with three points courtesy of a 3-1 lead.

However, Cheltenham's new look team have only been together for a short time, but they have already got enough spirit and determination about them to storm back with three goals to win the match 4-3.
