Honours were even at the end of a hectic game at Victoria Park that had everything, as the Latics blew a two-goal lead and had to fight back to earn a point.

Lee Hughes and Chris Taylor had given the Latics a 2-0 advantage at the break, but there was an amazing start to the second as Pools turned the game on its head by taking the lead.

Andy Monkhouse headed the first on 47 minutes and a minute later Antony Sweeney levelled with another header.

Joel Porter earned the lead from the spot after 52 minutes after Sean Gregan had pulled Brown back in the area, but on 57 minutes Oldham came back as Taylor's low shot from the edge of the area on the left was deflected off Jamie McCunnie's ankle, sending Lee-Barrett the wrong way before rolling into the corner.

Leeds United claimed third place in the table with a clinical 2-0 win at Carisle United - Luciano Becchio and ex-Cumbrians loanee Jermaine Beckford were the goalscorers for the Yorkshiremen, as the visitors flexed their muscles to bat away the Cumbrians.

Two goals in the last couple of minutes from Matt Fryatt and Andy King, saw Leicester City grab the points in a thriller against Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.

The Foxes took an early lead when Lloyd Dyer netted, but Leyton Orient came storming back and levelled through Adam Chambers.

Walsall pulled off an extraordinary victory at Brighton and Hove Albion after playing for almost an hour with nine men.

The visitors had full-backs Rhys Weston and Netan Sansara sent off in the first half but won with a goal just before the break from Dwayne Mattis.

Huddersfield Town eased their worries with a 3-2 win over Northampton Town, with Michael Flynn scoring twice.

Stockport County and Swindon Town played out a 1-1 draw at Edgley Park, with Stephen Gleeson putting the Hatters ahead and Craig Easton levelling for the visitors.

Colchester United's sluggish start to life back in League One continued with a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of the MK Dons - who took the lead through Aaron Wilbraham after just 90 seconds. Sam Baldock added a late brace.

The Southend United substitute Anthony Grant capitalised a defensive clanger from Crewe Alexandra captain Julian Baudet to steal a dramatic 4-3 win at Gresty Road.

Peterborough United and Tranmere Rovers drew 2-2 at London Road, as did Yeovil Town and Bristol Rovers at Huish Park.
