The Foxes put down a marker to the rest of the division with an emphatic victory at Cheltenham Town.

They made a dream start with a goal after only three minutes when the lively forward Matty Fryatt burrowed his way into the box, and when his initial shot was saved by goalkeeper Shane Higgs, he reacted quickest to retrieve the ball by the byline.

He pulled it back for midfielder Lloyd Dyer to lash a shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Fryatt set up Matt Oakley for the second, scored the third and had a strike disallowed. Lloyd Dyer added the fourth.

Oldham Athletic rescued a point with a late equaliser at Colchester United to deny the hosts what would have been their first-ever win at their new Community Stadium, with the draw keeping the Latics' second.

Carlisle United are third, with Danny Graham grabbing a hat-trick in a 4-1 home win over Yeovil Town.

Brighton and Hove Albion maintained their unbeaten start to the season, despite another disappointing home performance in a goalless draw with Leyton Orient which kept them in the play-off positions.

Ishmel Demontagnac has struggled to establish himself in the Walsall side but the youngster appears to have guaranteed himself a regular spot after scoring a brilliant second-half hat-trick in the Saddlers' 5-2 victory over Southend United.

Leeds United salvaged a home point as Jermaine Beckford equalised with just 13 minutes remaining in their 2-2 home draw with Bristol Rovers.

The Yorkshire side had taken the lead through an own goal from Steve Elliott, with strikes from Rickie Lambert and Darryl Duffy putting the Pirates ahead before Beckford's leveller.

Simon Cox's last-minute penalty condemned MK Dons to their first home defeat of the season, as Swindon Town recorded a 2-1 win at stadium:mk.

David Forde's 90th-minute penalty save handed Millwall side their first win in the dying moments of a hard-fought 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town - who dropped to the foot of the table after the defeat - at The Den.

Liam Dickinson had put the visitors ahead, but the home side turned things around with goals from Tresor Kandol and Lewis Grabban.

Hereford United moved off the foot of the table with a 2-0 win over Crewe Alexandra. Goals from new signing Stephen O'Leary and Bradley Hudson-Odoi settled the game in the Bulls' favour.

Two calamitous defensive blunders in as many second-half minutes from Peterborough United set Hartlepool on the road to a first away success of the campaign, with Andy Monkhouse and Richard Barker gleefully grabbing the goals.

Northampton Town took an early lead at Tranmere Rovers through Ryan Gilligan , but came unstuck to eventually crash 4-1. Bas Savage, Anthony Kay, Craig Curren and Ian Moore netted for the Wirral outfit.
