Oldham Athletic kept up their excellent start to the League One season with a hard-earned victory over the MK Dons.

John Sheridan's unbeaten side have won five of their first six games and earned this latest maximum haul with goals from Lee Hughes and Mark Allott.

Carlisle United remain second in the table despite their 2-1 loss to Scunthorpe, with the Iron third.

Jermaine Beckford fired home a superb double to give ten-man Leeds United a deserved victory over a poor Swindon Town side, moving them upto fourth. The midfielder Neil Kilkenny also scored for the Yorkshire side.

Leicester City lost their unbeaten start to life in League One after failing to impose themselves against a robust Millwall side.

Gary Alexander scored the only goal of the game after 20 minutes to move the Lions upto fifth, one place above the Foxes who are sixth.

Walsall sit just outside the play-off positions after a 3-1 victory at Bristol Rovers.

Michael Ricketts netted twice for the Saddlers, with Stephen Roberts also scoring.

Crewe Alexandra made it five successive home wins - two in the league and three in cup competitions - as Colchester United continued to struggle to adapt to life in League One.

A real howler by Dean Gerken, two minutes after the interval, gifted Crewe the lead. He had the ball covered when Michael O'Connor curled in a free-kick from the left flank, but he somehow fluffed his lines to allow the effort to drift past him. The goal flattened the Us and Tom Pope headed in the second goal.

An early own goal by home defender Brian Saah plus strikes from Jim McNulty and Tommy Rowe saw Stockport County cruise to their second away win of the season as they out-fought and out-thought a shell-shocked Leyton Orient.

Southend United ended their bleak run thanks to a first-half goal from striker Lee Barnard in a 1-0 success over Hereford United.

Ryan Shotton's superb header helped Tranmere Rovers come from behind to claim their first away win since February in a 2-1 success at Huddersfield Town.

Northampton Town and Peterbrough United played out a 1-1 draw at Sixfields, with George Boyd putting Posh ahead with Colin Larkin levelling for the Cobblers. Yeovil Town and Brighton and Hove Albion also drew 1-1.
