Assistant boss John Gannon is also on gardening leave, and will not be at Field Mill for Saturday's FA Cup first round game with Colchester United.
Palmer said: "I am looking after the team until Monday while the situation is resolved. I don't know any more than that.
"It is a very difficult situation at the moment, and I can't comment further."
A Stags club statement read: "It is expected the enquiry should be at an end by Monday, and hopefully an exonerated Keith Curle can report back to duty as normal."
