Mansfield to host Community Shield

The game will be played at recently re-developed Field Mill on Wednesday August 6, kicking off at 7.45pm. It will be televised live on Sky Sports.

The match will mark the tenth anniversary of the Football Association running the women's game, with 85,000 registered players football is no the most popular female sport in England.

FA Vice-Chairman Ray Kiddell said: "The Football Association is proud to benefit the community through women's football, just as it does in the men's game.

"This match will be an exciting one - not only because it brings together two of the best sides in the women's game, but also because it will be a fantastic celebration of 10 years of FA governance."

Mansfield Chairman Keith Haslam said: "Mansfield Town are delighted to be hosting a fixture of this stature and we look forward to welcoming both clubs to Field Mill.

"I am sure both the regular club fans and the wider community will turn out to watch this top class entertainment."

Both sides go into the new season under new managers, with Marieanne Spacey overseeing Fulham's change to semi-pro from professionals, and John Buckley taking charge at Doncaster.

Tickets for the match will go on sale next week.
