Old Trafford whizzkid set for Carlisle

The Brunton Park outfit have lost both of their opening league games with defeat's away at both York and Yeovil and gaffer Roddy Collins is desperate to bring in a real goalscorer.

Old Trafford supremo Alex Ferguson is keen to give Nardiello some league experience and so Carlisle seems as good a place as any to begin his footballing education.

The highly rated 21-year-old has understandably found first team football with the Premiership Champions hard to come by, making just two appearances off the bench, one in a 4-0 defeat to Arsenal in the League Cup two seasons ago and the other in a win against Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League. His only full start came last season against Leicester in the League Cup.

Nardiello is believed to be considering the move and will meet with Carlisle boss Roddy Collins in the next few days in the hope of finalising the deal.

Collins said: "It's common knowledge I'm looking for a proven goalscorer who can guarantee goals. We have to get players in. People see how well we play when we have got the ball. We have to get players in if I'm going to progress the club in the way we said we would progress the club".
