Oldham strikers off the mark

New loan signings Matt Derbyshire and Jose Baxter marked their Latics debuts with a goal each on Saturday, as the Lancashire side drew 2-2 with Notts County at Boundary Park.

Although Dickov was delighted to see such an instant impact from his attacking signings, he felt his side should have gone into the game against the Iron with the confidence boost of a win under their belts.

"Some of our attacking play was excellent and it's great to see Derbyshire and Baxter - get off the mark on their debuts," he said.

"I'm sure it was a great game to watch if you were a neutral. After their sending off we were the only side who really wanted to win the game, but you have to give Notts County credit for their defending.

"The two goals we conceded were very poor and our keeper (Alex Cisak) has held up his hands on the second one.

"But we showed character to come from behind twice, we used our width and we were patient when that was needed. It's two points dropped because we made plenty of chances, including a penalty, and we should have had three other penalties as well."
