Plymouth talk to Sturrock

Sturrock was in charge at Home Park from October 2000 to March 2004, and the Pilgrims board want him to return.

Argyle are looking for a replacement for Ian Holloway, who quit to take charge of Leicester City last week.

Plymouth won promotion from the old third division under Sturrock in 2002 and finished top of the third tier of English football in 2004 despite the manager leaving to join Southampton towards the end of the campaign.

The former Dundee United and St Johnstone boss lasted just 13 games with the Saints, before moving onto Sheffield Wednesday and then Swindon.
