The Royals slipped to 17th place and just one point clear of the drop zone after losing 2-0 at Arsenal on Saturday.

But Sonko has backed his team-mates to pick up the points necessary to avoid the drop starting with Saturday's visit to Reading.

"It's going to be hard, but all the players are ready to be leaders," he told the club's official website.

"We have worked so hard to get to this level we don't want to let it go away.

"Until the last game of the season, we're going to work hard, there's no way we're going to let people take away from us something we've worked so hard for.

"We've all come from the Championship and we don't want to go back there.

"I don't sense nerves especially. I don't think we'll be nervous, but we're a bit concerned about losing everything.

"Everyone is really motivated because we don't want to lose this position. We enjoy the Premier League and we want to stay here for as long as we can."
