Rochdale are pretty in pink

The suggestion comes from Bobbie Goulding, the manager of Rochdale's Rugby League side - Rochdale Hornets - who also play at Spotland, in a bid to intimidate visiting teams.

He said: "Home advantage should help us, but with our pitch and facilities I think teams love coming here.

"I’m hoping to have a word with Steve (Parkin) to see if he'll change the away dressing room, paint it pink like St Helens do, or purple.

"We go to places and they are absolute tips. Whitehaven's away changing room is tiny. You have to get 17 players, kit men, physios and coaches into a space built for 10.

"The facilities here at Spotland are the best in the National League and better than a lot of grounds in Super League. We have to make it as unwelcoming as we possibly can for the teams who come here."
