Rotherham sack Knill

The Millers have managed just one win in their last 14 games, and are 13 points from safety at the foot of the table.

But Knill - a former Scunthorpe defender - has had one hand tied behind his back all season. They began the camapign on -10 points after going into administration in the summer, while star players Will Hoskins and Lee Williamson were sold in the January transfer window.

"After intensive talks with Knill, and taking into consideration the position of Rotherham United, the board of directors have made the decision to release him from his role as manager," read a statement from the Yorkshire club.

"This action was not taken lightly, but it was felt that this was the only option considering our current plight.

"We would like to wish Alan and his family all the best for the future and thank him for all the hard work he has done down at Millmoor."
