The match was Gary Peters' first in charge of the Shrews, and the Shropshire side ran out 2-0 victors.

Both sides were charge with failing to esnure that their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion.

In a hearing on Tuesday morning, both clubs were fined £1,000.

Tempers boiled over after 41 minutes of the game, when Swans' central defender Garry Monk was ordered off for a second bookable offence.

In the protests that followed, the referee went crashing to the ground when surrounded by a group of irate Swansea players.

Worse was to follow for Kenny Jacket's men, who found themselves down to nine men three minutes later when Andy Robinson was shown the red card following a clash with Shrewsbury full-back Darren Moss that sparked a fracas involving 15 players.
