Andy Liddell's free kick for the Latics ensured United didn't overtake them at the top of the table in a 1-1 draw at Boundary Park.

Leeds United closed ground on Oldham with a 1-0 win over Hereford United at Elland Road, while Leicester City's Matt Oakley fired in an early goal that proved to be decisive against previously free scoring Hartlepool United.

Stockport County pegged back Cheltenham Town twice at Whaddon Road: it finished 2-2 as Michael Raynes hammered home a last minute equaliser.

Bristol Rovers and Crewe Alexandra finished goalless, whilst Dwayne Mattis and Jabo Ibhere were on the scoresheet as Walsall claimed a shock 2-1 win over Carlisle United.

Adebayo Akinfenwa's last gasp strike for Northampton Town shocked Brighton and Hove Albion, who thought they had recorded their second win on the bounce courtesy of an 89th minute Glenn Murray goal.

Peterborough United fought back from a goal behind to record a 2-1 win over MK Dons.

Oldham still top the table, with Scunthorpe sitting in second - a goal shy of the league leaders. Leeds, Leicester, Walsall and Millwall are in the play-off positions.
