Tuesday night's opponents Bristol City went down to a 1-0 defeat at home to Brentford after Lloyd Owusu's late strike.

Swindon Town drew 1-1 at Bradford City as Sean O'Hanlon rescued a point for Iffy Onuora's men after Dean Windass looked to have secured the points.

A late equaliser from Darren Byfield meant Gillingham salvaged a 1-1 draw at home to Tranmere. Steven O'Leary had given Brian Little's side the lead.

Right at the bottom, MK Dons stormed to a 3-0 home win over ten-man Blackpool. Goals from Izale McLeod (2) and Scott Taylor gave the points to Danny Wilson's men. Tony Butler was sent off the Seasiders.

Doncaster moved up the table with a 2-0 home win against play-off chasing Barnsley. A brace from new signing Jason Price secured the points.

Port Vale had Leon Constantine to thank as they also advanced on the play-offs with a 1-0 home win over Yeovil, whilst Bournemouth and Oldham played out a goalless stalemate.

Colchester missed out on the chance to regain top spot as Huddersfield beat them 2-0 at the Galpharm Stadium. Goals from Jonathan Worthington and David Graham meant that the Terriers still sit pretty in the race for promotion.

Swansea also advanced with a superb 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest. Forest edged ahead through Nathan Tyson, but goals from Adrian Forbes and Lee Trundle completed a turnaround for the Swans, who visit Glanford Park next Saturday.

Southend are still two points clear at the top of the table after Friday night's 2-0 home win over Rotherham. Shaun Goater and Freddy Eastwood got the goals.

Meanwhile on the same night, a Matty Robson strike gave managerless Hartlepool a 1-0 win against Chesterfield.
