The former Arsenal defender was voted in by a panel of experts and former players.

He joins an illustrious list of former players and managers who have been honoured for their contributions to English football.

Spokesman for the museum, Richard Cuthbert, said: "Tony is the most successful Arsenal captain in the club's history and is recognised as one of the most respected defenders of the modern era.

"His record speaks for itself, winning a plethora of trophies at club level and earning over 50 caps for his country. His place is rightly earned alongside other legends.''

Along with Adams, Roy Keane, Alan Shearer, Wilf Mannion, Billy Bremner, Geoff Hurst, Viv Anderson and Sue Lopez have been added to the list.
