Angus denies Laws claims

The verstaile defender was offered a two-year contract with the Iron following a three-month loan spell, but two weeks ago Laws backed out of a deal for the 24-year-old.

At the time, Laws said: "We have withdrawn the contract offer to Stevland Angus because I thought there were too many red flags.

"He had done well for us while he was here, but had a lot of baggage which I feel would have made him high maintenance.

"That has scared me off because I think we were going in different directions."

However, Angus feels the comments were made as he had rejected their offer.

The ex-Cambridge Utd man said: "Things didn't seem right and I didn't feel comfortable there. I think they had their own reservations over me because of what happened with [former Cambridge boss] Herve Renard.

"I didn't feel like it's where I should be at this time and if they're going to say comments like that, which don't put me in a good light, it proved me right, but I don't want to make a big fuss or get dragged into a slanging match with them."

Angus is in talks with several League One and League Two clubs as he looks to re-establish his career.
