Earl dies of cancer

The Scunthorpe-born forward had two spells with the club in the 70s, playing for local non-league side Appleby-Frodingham inbetween.

Earl made 41 competitive appearances, scoring ten times, for the Iron after making his debut in the 3-1 defeat at Darlington in September 1974.

He passed away yesterday morning, leaving a wife and three daughters.
