The tricky winger joined United from West Ham in one the summer of 1999, but was released in 2002 after his impact on the team waned.

Hodges leaves Billericay to join Rymans League rivals AFC Hornchurch on an improved deal.

Billericay's joint manager Jason Broom said: "We would have loved Lee to stay, but these things happen in football.

"There's no hard feelings. Lee had a tremendous relationship with the crowd here and we'd all like to thank him for all he's done for Billericay over the past few years."
