Nigel Adkins fielded a different side in each half, with all six trialists getting a run out.
United lined up with a fairly strong side to start, with Josh Lillis, Michael Lea, Joe Wilcox, Sam Oji, Izzy Iriekpen, Garry Thompson, Andrew Wright, Ian Morris, Peter Winn, Ben May and Paul Hayes playing the first 45.
The trialist left-back Lea impressed with some good forward moves, as too did Wright who played in a central midfield role.
However despite keeping possession for lengthy spells, the Iron failed to break through the Brigg defence: Winn rattled the bar with a stinging drive, and May went near with a close range effort.
Adkins fielded another XI for the second half with Joe Murphy, Brewster Frizzell, Kenny Milne, Mark Byrnes, Cliff Byrne, Frank Belt, James Sherman, Matt Sparrow, Jonathan Forte, Gary Hooper and Kevan Hurst coming on.
United took the lead a few minutes after the restart when Forte latched on to Milne's headed clearance, he outpaced a defender before poking past the keeper.
New signing Hooper made a nuisance of himself, but was not provided with any real service. He nearly got off the mark after latching on to a loose ball, however his chipped effort dropped just wide.
The Aussie Sherman, in a central midfield role, went close with a stinging drive that the Brigg keeper just managed to keep out and Forte fired over with a long range effort.
Forte doubled his tally for the evening in the final minute when he toe-poked home from close range.
There was no sign of the left-back Marcus Williams, possibly the biggest indication yet that his future lies away from Glanford Park next season.
