Scunthorpe scored twice during a bizarre second half against Kidderminster, who have now gone six games without a win.

Cliff Byrne broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with Steven McLean settling the issue on 77 minutes.

Shortly before Byrne put the visiting Iron ahead the automatic pitch watering system hadgushed into operation causing a brief halt in play before being switched off.

The incident agitated Kidderminster boss Ian Britton so much that he was ordered to sit in the stands by referee Andre Mariner after needlessly kicking the ball away in frustration.

The interruption however failed to unsettle Byrne who calmly knocked the ball past Stuart Brock following a cross from Ian Kilford.

It was all over for Kidderminster when Brock could only half push away a cross by Matthew Sparrow and McLean was on the spot to knock the ball over the line.

The incident-packed second half came to an end when Kidderminster midfielder Danny Williams had a powerful free-kick saved by debutant goalie Sam Russell.

In contrast, the first half had been a dull affair with both sides having limited scoring opportunities.

Scunthorpe's best efforts came from Sparrow and McLean, but their shots were safely dealt with by Brock.

Kidderminster had to wait until the 32nd minute before they tested the visitors defence. The chance fell to striker Andy Bishop who powered a free header straight into the arms of Russell.

Then on the stroke of half time Danny Williams saw his fierce 35-yard free-kick pushed around the post by the alert Russell.
