Scunthorpe 0 Boston 1

Scunthorpe's holiday period has been a barren one with nothing to show from three games.

Their latest defeat saw local rivals Boston grab an early goal and then sit back to repel anything that a disappointing Iron could muster.

Boston showed quite early on in the game with Peter Duffield breaking through but failing to beat Tommy Evans.

However Duffield was on the mark in the 12th minute, Kevin Sharp failed to clear the danger and when the ball fell to the Boston striker he clipped it just inside the upright.

The Pilgrims then saw Lee Beevers fire a snap shot from 20 yards, but again Evans was alert to the danger and just afterwards the same player forced the keeper to turn a shot away.

In the closing stages of the first half, Scunthorpe began to show a little more with Matt Sparrow and Lee Featherstone having shots blocked and Andy Butler headed wide of target.

An out of touch Scunthorpe showed a little more purpose after the break and Paul Hayes half hit a shot which Paul Bastock dealt with comfortably, before firing another effort over.

However Boston were also denied when Ian Kilford made a goal line clearance from Adam Boyd in the closing stages.
