Scunthorpe 3-1 Swindon- Match Report

Iron rock RobinsScunthorpe came from behind with a terrific second-half performance to condemn promotion-chasing Swindon to a 3-1 defeat at Glanford Park.Despite dominating the first half with some free-flowing football, the Robins slipped to a third successive away loss.Swindon had to wait though until the 44th minute to open the scoring when striker Michael Smith cut in from the left to fire an excellent 20-yard effort into the bottom corner of the net for his 13th goal of the season.Almost immediately, leading marksman Andy Williams should have added to the score, only to see his shot from point-blank range kept out by goalkeeper Luke Daniels. It was with an hour gone that Scunthorpe suddenly found their attacking momentum

They were almost back on level terms when midfielder Neal Bishop crashed a header against the crossbar from close range. The equaliser did quickly follow in the 62nd minute when Swindon failed to clear a long throw and top scorer Paddy Madden popped up unmarked at the far post to fire home his 14th goal of the season.Swindon were almost back in front in the 72nd minute when Williams thundered a long-range effort against the underside of the bar

But it was Scunthorpe who struck twice in three minutes to snatch victory.Centre-back Niall Canavan headed them in front in the 76th minute from a corner and three minutes later Dutch striker Kevin Van Veen completed a sparkling debut in English football by lifting the ball cheekily over keeper Wes Fotheringham to make it 3-1.The Robins threw everything forward in the closing minutes but could not find their finishing touch
